Sri B. R. Doraswamy Naidu, Ex-MLA, father of Dr. B. R. Suresh Babu, is known as the root of Kuppam politics. As a politician, he set a very good example to all and brought a major change in his own simple, hard working ways. He still remains in the hearts of everyone in and around Kuppam, to whom he stood as the beacon of light.

Sri B. R. Doraswamy Naidu represented Kuppam as Congress MLA from 1978 to 1983 at a very young age of 31 years. Sri Nallari Amarnath Reddy garu ex-minister, Sri Dr Y. S. Rajashekar Reddy garu chief minister of A.P., Sri Nara Chandrababu Naidu garu, President of T. D. P, Sri Reddivari Chenga Reddy garu minister & MLA Nagiri and Sri Rossiah garu minister were some of his Assembly friends.

B. R. D. Naidu considered Sri late Rajagopal Naidu garu M.P Chittoor, late Sri Nallari Amarnath Reddy garu ex-minister, Sri Changalraya Naidu garu M.P, and late Sri Marri Chenna Reddy garu former CM of A.P as his political mentors. He has lots of respect for many of his friends from all walks of life and all the great leaders like late Smt Indira Gandhi, late Sri Rajiv Gandhi and late Sri Nandamuri Taraka Ramarao to name a few.

First major development activities in Kuppam were started by B. R. D. Naidu and he brought awareness in the Kuppam people. He showed what a good politician can do for people. He maintained cordial relationships with public.

Some of his achievements are:

  • Establishment of Kuppam Rural Electric Co-operative Society.
  • Construction of rural roads and irrigation wells under food for work programme.
  • The Kuppam Rural Electric Co-Operative Society Ltd., Kuppam was established during 1981 with the aim of 100% rural electrification of backward Kuppam Constituency by Sri B. R. Doraswamy Naidu, the then M.L.A , of Kuppam with the encouragement of Sri. N. Amaranatha Reddy, the then Cooperative Minister.
  • Under his chairmanship, Kuppam RESCO completed 100% rural electrification within 3 years of its starting than the stipulated time of 5 years.  
  • For many years until he died in year Jan' 2000 at a young age of 52, he was one of the leading lawyers in Kuppam.

As a young and qualified doctor, Dr. B. R. Suresh, instead of reaching heights for self purposes like working in metropolitan cities or foreign countries, decided to serve the people of Kuppam by staying and practicing in Kuppam. He constantly involves himself in various activities that help serve the needy better. His father, late Sri B. R. Doraswamy Naidu, Ex-MLA, always guided and encouraged him to understand the problems of farmers, poor and distressed. Suresh, following his father's path, does not miss an opportunity to help the poor in whatever way he can.

Recognizing his leadership qualities, he was elected as Andhra Pradesh Junior Doctors Association President during 2005. He fought fearlessly for the rights of doctors and students of the medical colleges. He was able to successfully motivate and lead Junior Doctors throughout the state for more than one month to fight for the cause. Media too was very supportive and extended their cooperation in their efforts.

Dr. B. R. Suresh Babu (MBBS, MS-General Surgeon) is the son of Sri. B. R. Doraswamy Naidu garu and grandson of Sri. B. R. Bangaruswamy Naidu garu. Presently he is the owner of the BRD Memorial Hospital, Kuppam and also an Organizing Secretary in PCC (Congress Party).

Dr. B. R. Suresh is a born leader and he was school captain in his school days and several times he stood first in school academics. Later he secured State 10th rank in EAMCET entrance exam and he completed his MBBS and MS degree from Osmania Medical College, Hyderabad.

During his college days he was first elected as class representative of their 96 batch. During his tenure as CR he took special interest in raising funds to support cyclone affected areas. During his post graduation, he was elected as President of State Junior Doctors Association (APJUDA). As the President of State Junior Doctors Association he led so many agitations against corruption in MCI and medical education system. He was instrumental in making the government implement Jeevan Reddy Committee recommendations in medical education. He was part of the team who fasted for 8 days to bring back around 300 MBBS seats which were derecognised by MCI.

As a professional doctor and surgeon, he is doing a service to mankind by providing services at low cost in our area and also educating people regarding various health issues.

As a director of B-CARE he is involved in educating people against taboos and misconceptions involved in HIV among people. He educates high risk people by conducting awareness campaigns.

He is part of the team, which conducts national and international bicycle rallies, creating awareness regarding HIV and also distribute condoms stressing upon the importance of using condoms to protect themselves from getting infected.

As Honorary President of Taylor High School Old Students Association, he is actively involved in reopening of closed down school (probably the first time in history as far as our knowledge goes) and running it successfully with over a thousand students. We are also providing free education to some poor students.

As a President of BRD YOUTH, he involved in engaging many interested and voluntary youths in social activities like health camps and also in bicycle rallies and in creating awareness regarding self employment among youth.

As a Secretary in PCC (Pradesh Congress Committee) he took an active role in setting a platform for the people of Kadapalli and surrounding areas to raise their voice against forceful acquisition of land for the airport.

Dr. B. R. Suresh has excellent relationships with many well-known leaders at district, state and national level from all political parties and was also appreciated for his qualities and achievements.

Dr. B. R. Suresh's grandfather, late Sri B. R. Ramaswamy Naidu (famous as Bangaruswamy Naidu) was a landlord. He contested in the 1967 Kuppam assembly election as a Congress candidate. He was very well known for his service to poor people, courage, valuable judgements at Village Panchayats through out Kuppam constituency.
